un PALESTINIAN PROTEST PUNK/ROCK BANDS OR ARTISTS NEEDED (Bay Ridge) image 1 of 7 compensation: $200 for the use of your song in our one-day performance/workshop on May 1st, 2025. The radical 501-C3 BIPOC led theater company, The Kangalee Arts Ensemble, is looking for original punk rock by songs - by Palestinian artists - to be used for a new play - MY DYING CITY - that explores the outrage about genocide, gentrification, racism and American Fascism in particular all at once - in the inimitable way that writer/director Dennis Leroy Kangalee creates. Best known for the 2001 cult film "As an Act of Protest" and last year's controversial play, "The Life & Death of Art" (the first American play to equate the suffering and the alliance of Black Americans with Palestinians), Kangalee's theater company is now working on a workshop of a new play that revolves around a rogue radio talk-show station and the left wing activists who call in. A workshop presentation will be performed at JACK in Clinton Hill on May 1st before proceeding into summer prep for a full-blown fall production. This is part of a movement that is seeking to bring radical artists of color together, regardless of generation, to dangerous, radical and invigorating art. This is OUR way of demonstrating and protesting. We are particularly interested in showcasing one or two recorded songs by any new original punk rock or political rock or conscious hip-hop groups that really have something to say about our times.
