The College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences (CFAES) is the cornerstone college of The Ohio State University, with three mission areas dedicated to one essential purpose: We Sustain Life. CFAES is one college spread across three campuses, with our faculty and staff split evenly among the three campuses. Comprised of ten academic units including the School of Environment and Natural Resources and Ohio State ATI, plus Ohio State University Extension, CFAES has 22 bachelors degree majors, 26 associate degree majors, and 34 minors. The CFAES Marketing and Communications team serves as a strategic resource for the college. The team is responsible for setting marketing and communication strategies and plans that align with the initiatives and priorities of the college. The team supports the recruitment, retention, development, research, outreach, and issues management for the college. They are a group of strategic marketing and communication thinkers and doers who are both proactive and reactive, identifying opportunities and removing challenges to elevate awareness, enhance reputation and ultimately inspire choice for the college.

Position Summary:
The Photographer plays a key role in capturing high-quality photos for various purposes, including marketing and communications, research and process documentation, education, and partner/stakeholder relationship building. A variety of photography styles is required, from traditional event-based photography and individual portraiture to innovative journalistic storytelling. The person in this role must always maintain professionalism and seamlessly transition from capturing photography at high-profile stakeholder events to shooting in outdoor field environments. As the primary photographer for CFAES, this position will capture high-quality photos for marketing, communication, research, education, and relationship-building purposes. The Photographer will work closely with video producers as part of a comprehensive digital media team that supports overall visual storytelling in CFAES Marketing and Communication Team.

The position will also manage CFAES's Digital Asset Management (DAM) process, including organizing, tagging, permissions, sharing, and collaborating with designers, the web team, and other communicators to help find photos. Additionally, the Photographer will lead and execute the collection and archiving of photos across the college, selecting photos with marketing, communication, and archival value.

This is a hybrid position working from the Columbus campus, with a combination of remote and in-office work. CFAES is a statewide enterprise, and in-state travel is a regular part of this job. While most work is done during standard hours, availability for weekends and after-hours work is required based on priority events and circumstances throughout the year.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a field related to photography or digital media, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
2-4 years of experience in professional photography, including planning, shooting, editing, delivery and archive of photos.
A strong portfolio showcasing a breadth of photography expertise, from traditional photography to journalistic storytelling.
Experience with photo editing software, preferably Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom.
Good working knowledge of photographic principles and the functions of a professional camera.
Must have a driver's license and the ability to travel, mostly in-state, for photo shoots.

Desired Experience:
Professional working experience with Adobe Creative Cloud suite of programs.
4 years of experience in photography and digital media production in a higher education setting.
Basic experience with videography, including basic video editing.
