Medical Illustrator Jobs in Texas

A Medical Illustrator is a professional artist who utilizes their advanced knowledge in medicine and science to create visual content that accurately represents medical, biological, and related knowledge. They design and develop medical-related images for textbooks, online content, presentations, instructional videos, patient education materials, legal cases, and research papers among others. They are often employed in various sectors such as universities, hospitals, pharmaceutical companies, research institutions, and publishing companies. Their work aids in the understanding and interpretation of complex medical information, thereby playing a critical role in the commercial art industry.

Important skills and certifications for a Medical Illustrator include a strong foundation in biology and human anatomy, excellent artistic skills, proficiency in graphic design and digital art software, strong communication and presentation skills, and the ability to work on tight deadlines. A bachelor's degree in a pre-med or scientific field along with a master's degree in Medical Illustration is generally required. They should ideally also be certified by the Board of Certification of Medical Illustrators. Before becoming a Medical Illustrator, an individual may have roles such as a Biological Illustrator, Graphic Designer, or Scientific Illustrator.
